"Travel With Mate"

TRAVEL WITH MATE – A TRAVELER’S COMPANION, EVERY TIME!

Do you remember standing at the bus stop on a sunny day waiting for your bus to arrive? And just when the bus is here, it is either full or the driver just drives off without waiting for you to get in. You end up running behind the moving bus and if you are “lucky” you get to travel foot board or you may just have to wait for the next bus to arrive. I’m safe to say that it doesn’t need a reminder as most of us would’ve experienced this multiple times.
Over a period of time, we get frustrated and we end up taking an auto to the destination with whom we bargain – a lot! I guess most of our bargaining skills are attained by negotiating with auto-rickshaw drivers. Nobody wants to do this every single day before reaching the destination. Finally we get frustrated and decide to buy a bike or a car and spend lavishly on fuel and maintenance. If it doesn’t fit the budget, we end up at the bus stop again – right where we started.

There are so many frustrated commuters in our country that we could start up “An association of Frustrated Commuters”. How do we solve this? How do we make traveling easier? Is there some way where you can travel a little comfortably and save on travel costs as well?

You must’ve heard of carpooling. Carpooling is sharing of car journeys or sharing a ride where two or more people going to same destination take just one car and travel together.  It could be any vehicle Car, Bike or a Van. Carpooling is a common and widely accepted idea in the developed countries. The need for sharing a ride is actually high in a country like ours where the fuel prices are always soaring and traveling gets more and more difficult.

Sharing rides are common among family members or friends but how do you find a ride otherwise? I’m sure there were times when standing at bus stops; we might’ve seen someone going in an auto – alone! How we wish they could give us a ride, after all there is plenty of space in the auto for another person. Well you are not alone. For all you know, the person in the auto must be thinking “100Rs for a 15 minute ride!” They would be more than welcome to share it with someone and reduce the cost by half!

Well, this is where “Travel with Mate” comes - A solution to your travel woes.” Travel with Mate” is a website that allows you to find commuters going to the same destination and are willing to give a ride to fellow commuters. It is a network for travelers. Be it a short journey or a long one, you could find travelers here. How do you find travel companions? It is quite simple. Open the website and join a route. Enter the start and end destination along with the days you travel and provide your e-mail ID. Browse and find your fellow travelers.

Why should I bother to give a ride? What is the benefit? Well, for starters, you could save on traveling costs. Especially on long journeys you could share the fuel cost, toll and also be relieved of traveling in a congested bus or train. You could also be relieved of the driving stress by taking turns in to drive. It not only helps you save on the commute but also gives you a travel companion.

Travel with Mate is an initiative to make travel easier and it is an environment friendly idea. The more rides we share, we help in reducing the consumption of fuel, reduce pollution and also reduce travel costs!

Be a part of “Travel with Mate” and enjoy the benefits of sharing.
